Serial shoplifter targeted same B&Q branch three times in less than two weeks, stealing drills and saw blades before arrest

A woman who repeatedly stole tools from a branch of B&Q in Peterborough has been jailed for 20 weeks.

Jordan Palmer, 32, of no fixed address, appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (7 October) where she admitted three counts of theft from a shop.

On 25 April, Palmer visited the B&Q store in Maskew Avenue and stole two drills worth about £125. She returned on 2 October, concealing a drill set and four saw blades worth £80 under her jacket. When confronted by security, the stolen items fell from her coat, and she fled, leaving her bag and coat behind.

Just four days later, on 6 October, Palmer went back for a third time and stole tools worth £55 before being stopped by store security as she tried to leave. Police were called, and she was arrested at the scene.

PC Sam Malton, from the Spree Offender Team, said: “Palmer was clearly not deterred when she was confronted by security staff, blatantly returning four days later to try again.

“We appreciate this type of behaviour is frustrating for business owners and hard-working retail staff. We’re actively pursuing the most prolific offenders in the county and will continue to do all we can to bring them to justice.”

Cambridgeshire Constabulary said Palmer’s repeated targeting of the same store highlighted the ongoing issue of shoplifting in the city.
