A Peterborough man has been jailed for 40 weeks after breaking a court order to steal chocolate from a city retail park.
Mark Smith, 42, appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he admitted theft and breaching a criminal behaviour order imposed last year.
The court heard Smith entered B&M at Ortongate Shopping Centre in Orton Goldhay on 2 October and took 40 bars of Dairy Milk Whole Nut. The shopping centre visit directly violated a criminal behaviour order banning him from the retail park, along with any Spar, Tesco or Co-op stores across Peterborough.
PC Sam Malton, from Cambridgeshire Constabulary, said: “Smith has repeatedly disregarded his CBO and has now been convicted of eight breaches.”
Smith, of London Road in Fletton, was also ordered to pay £83.60 in compensation to the store. The criminal behaviour order was originally imposed in 2024 following previous offending.
Magistrates heard this marked the eighth time Smith had been convicted of breaching the order designed to protect Peterborough retailers.
